What We Do
At Omora Healing, we’ve seen that while Black knowledge, healing, and wellness are vital, they are often underfunded, under resourced, culturally inappropriate, not community-specific, and not harm-reductive. By this, we mean approaches that are either insensitive to the community’s needs, actively retraumatizing, dismissive of lived experiences, or imposing external solutions that don’t fit with the community’s reality. As a result, many programs unintentionally replicate the very traumas they seek to heal.

At Omora Healing, we recognize the deep connection between healing, culture, and creative expression. Our cultural collaborations bring together psychodrama, community theatre, and genocide scholarship, working at the crossroads of oral history, tradition, wellness, and the arts. This work began with a focus on the Rwandan experiences of exile, war, and genocide, using storytelling and theatre to explore silences, tensions, and trauma. Over time, our work expanded to engage with other Afrodescendent communities, as well as Black and other communities, addressing intergenerational wounds through art.
At Omora Healing, we focus on enhancing existing initiatives, raising awareness, mobilizing resources, and fostering innovation to create sustainable, impactful solutions. Our consulting services are designed to build connections and collaborations both locally and globally, with a special emphasis on partnerships across the African continent and Canada. Whether working with organizations in Africa, in Canada, or forming global alliances, we help amplify and support ongoing efforts, ensuring they grow in reach, effectiveness, and innovation.

Meaning “together” in the Rwandan language, Kumwe embodies the spirit of collective care. In this program, participants engage in meaningful dialogue, explore tools and practices for well-being, and create a strong community of support.
